Today was an unexpectedly great day. We got new French doors installed in our kitchen, which I knew we were doing, but they turned out much nicer than I thought they would. I love when that happens!
We upgraded our kitchen last winter, but never got around to updating the old sliding door. As cold weather started to approach this year, we decided to better insulate that end of the kitchen (which is typically 15 degrees colder, ah!) and get better doors installed. Although I was looking forward to having French doors over and old slider, I didn’t realize how much nicer it was going to look!
Here is what the old door looked like:
So although the kitchen was coming together and looking very nice, the outdated slider door (and bad vertical blinds!) were bringing the whole room down. The main reason we decided to spend (a lot of!) money on upgrading the doors was to help insulate the kitchen, but I also knew that they would tie the room together. However, I did not expect to love them quite as much as I do. Not only is our kitchen warmer, but it’s more homey feeling too. Yay for happy surprises and my new, beautiful, French doors.
