Whoo! We finally finished our dining room. A project that should have taken a weekend, maaaaaaybe two, ended up taking almost a month. This (apparently) is what happens when one of the workers isn’t able to contribute at all. Nonetheless, we did finally complete the dining room and I, for one, couldn’t be more excited.
Entertaining is something Ian and I have wanted to do since we bought the house. Not having a dining room made that tricky. Our tiny kitchen table only seats two, so if the weather wasn’t good and we couldn’t sit outside, we couldn’t have people over for dinner. But that isn’t a problem anymore! A year and a half after moving into our house and we can finally have our neighbors, friends, and family over for a bite to eat!
And, not only do we finally have a fully-functional place to dine, but we have a totally completed first floor. Whaaaat?! Yup, you read that right. The entire first floor of our house is DONE (!!) and ready to live-in full time. Ahh the joy! Christmas came early for us 🙂
Of course we have small projects here and there but they are no more involved than anyone would have in any normal house. I want to sturdy the antique chairs around the dining room table, we still need to add doors on the pantry, and we have some touch-up painting to do in the entry hall, but those tiny projects are nothing compared to what we’ve done already. It is a glorious feeling to have a totally finished area of the house. No matter where I am on the first floor, I’m not looking at anything renovation-related – I’m only looking at a beautiful, happy home!
