If you remember wayyyy back in March I said that we were wrapping up the living room. Well, this past weekend, we finally did!
This spring a lot of things happened at once. We were out of town 3 of the 4 weeks in May, the weather improved overnight and outdoor projects started, and Ian got a promotion which now requires him to be working/traveling more – and so on… The point is, the living room never quite got the attention it deserved – until now.
This past weekend a few girls came over to my house for bagels, coffee, and party planning for a friend’s upcoming wedding. As of Thursday, they had nowhere to sit – the furniture was still piled together in the middle of the room under a tarp. Ian and I made quick business of finishing up the trim work, cleaning (lots of cleaning!) and organizing the room for Saturday morning.
I was extremely excited to uncover the existing furniture and unpack the new to see how it all worked together. After about 6 hours painting and no less than 4 hours cleaning over the course of two days, we finally got the first peek at our living room. And we’re in love.
Although we are essentially done with this room, I suppose it never really ends. I still need to add the light fixture in the middle of the room (still rocking the ‘boob light’ as we call it) – hopefully it’s delivered in the next few weeks. I obviously need to add artwork and pictures to the walls. The corner across from the mini bar needs a piece of furniture, but I’m not sure yet what will work. And then of course, there is the debate of whether or not to add a TV. While we’re still finishing the house we won’t add one, as it would only be cause for distraction. Once we’re done though, I wouldn’t be surprised if my over fireplace art was a 46″ flat screen. For now though, I’ll enjoy my pasture landscape and the calm simplicity of an (almost) finished traditional living room.
