I am not always one for newly built homes, as they tend to take on a generic appeal (in order to sell) and lack real character. This is evident in my buying two 100+ year old homes and renovating them extensively. But every now and then a stunner new build pops up and I’m forced to reconsider my position. Maybe it IS possible to create something amazing when the limitations of an existing structure aren’t forcing the hand of creativity.
This modern California home was designed and built in 2016 by the Nash Design Group. Modern elements and clean lines are balanced by natural elements. Large windows bring the outdoors in, keeping the space light and bright. The vaulted ceilings in almost every room don’t hurt either!
There is no shortage of texture as a variety of materials were used throughout the home. A stone fireplace and wood ceiling in the den, marble countertops and rustic beams in the kitchen, and hexagon metal sliders in the bar keep things interesting.
The home finds its harmony in the balance of multiple materials and a well-edited design. Scale and flow add to the open-ness and serene feel of the home.
All of that design talk aside though, this house is basically amazing and I am ready to move in whenever they tell me I can! 😉 But seriously, Nash Design Group, who I just stumbled upon the other day, has a great portfolio and are worth the click for some major architectural eye candy.
