Our renovation has stalled these last few weeks and it’s left me frustrated and antsy. Since my home is not giving me good vibes right now I decided to visit my other happy place…Pinterest! And what better reason than to look for some mudroom and laundry room inspiration?! Sidetone: I use the term ‘mudroom’ interchangeably with laundry room because mine are one and the same (we even have a pantry thrown in there, but that’s material for a whole other post).
I feel like mudrooms are the new kitchen. It seems like EVERYONE is renovating their old closet-style laundry rooms or (like us) doing additions that include mudrooms. And oh…my…word are some them GORGEOUS! They sound like they should be dingy and sad, but trust me, they are decidedly not.
Case and point – this absurdly amazing mudroom (no that’s not a kitchen) designed by Paulina Oldenbrook for a project in Napa, California. How spot-on is that farmhouse style? And a walk out patio where I fold my laundry? YES PLEASE!
Don’t have that kind of space (who does?) you only really need one wall. Like this one, for example, complete with fabulous lighting, a farm sink and moss green custom cabinets.
Have even less space? No problem. Try a charming vertical solution like Kim and Scott from Yellow Brick Home. Fun fact, their laundry is right off of their master bedroom – love that! But not as much as I love their fun ostrich wallpaper!
How about this laundry room behind a set of old doors on a track? First of all, where does someone just happen upon old doors like that?! And second of all, I’m seriously jealous of this navy blue washer/dryer set, it’s making me kind of wish I hadn’t already bought my standard grey…
Enough with the washers and dryers, how about storage? Well this solution I found on View From My Heels blog (she snagged it on Pinterest) is perfect. I love the locker/cubby open storage. I hope that I’ll have enough room in my laundry room to do something like this as it’s super practical AND cute.
Here’s another great example from Apartment Therapy. Also, that archway, swoon!
I am a sucker for all things white so of course this laundry room had me drooling immediately. I think this picture most closely represents what our space will look like when it’s all said and done. And I’m totally good with that!
More white and bright from none other than Studio McGee. I especially like the butcher block countertops and slate floor to ground the room. Oh and the shiplap walls? Yea I’m pretty sold on having to do that now!
Ohhhh but patterned tile is an even more exciting flooring option! I have to be honest, I love this little black and white room. I think they had me at gloss black cabinets…
All of these fun cabinet colors are making me wish I had been a little more creative in choosing my cabinets. Like honestly, mint green? I love it! But I never would have thought of it.
I have to say, one trend that I keep seeing in these awesome laundry rooms is lots of counter space and I think it’s a smart move. I will do my best to incorporate as much counter space as possible because, sadly, my clothes don’t fold themselves 🙁
And finally, how amazing is this mudroom-slash-laundry-slash-office room?! Is it also part kitchen? It’s awesome but there’s a lot going on in there!
Hopefully we’re able to get back on track this week and move ever closer to having a Pinterest-worthy mudroom some day!
