Target. Yes, Target — the step-up-from-WalMart, it-has-everything, I-bought-ten-things-I-don’t-need Superstore down the street. I’m kind of a reborn fan.
I mean, I’ve always liked Target. But I never really thought about it much. In college if I stepped in, it was a special occasion because I usually hit the Dollar Store. As I grew up and got a nice apartment, then a house all my own, Target became a place to get makeup, baby shower gifts and the occasional bathing suit. But home décor? Nah. I have Z Gallerie, West Elm, Restoration Hardware, and CB2 for that.
But oh wait, not so fast. Apparently as I was growing up, so was Target.
I recently visited the chain and as I was walking to the far corner of the store I passed through a charming and well-stocked home goods section. Really?! I was pleasantly surprised at the quantity and quality of their furniture, décor and general home goods section (which was quite large, by the way). Before leaving I picked up a cute side table and some throw pillows (because it’s imposable to buy just ONE thing in Target) and they look lovely in my finally-coming-together living room.
Since visiting the store I’ve gone online and found loads of adorable home-things. From occasional tables, to rugs, to full bedroom sets, Target covers the gamut. And with designer-inspired lines like Threshold and Safavieh at attractive price-points, it’s no wonder I can’t go online and only buy one or two things!
