The July/August edition of House Beautiful focused on small spaces. I took a particular interest in this issue because I live in a little house and decorating it has unique challenges. But when I got to page 86 my heart skipped a beat. They had an entire section dedicated to side/accent tables – of which I need plenty! It was like the editors at HB were reading my mind – I love when that happens!
For four straight nights I studied the six page spread and imagined each table in different locations around my home. The main area that I’m looking to put a side table is in the entry hallway next to my (awesome!) blue bench (pictured here). The problem with this location is that the table has to be very diminutive and not too funky as to take away from the bench. I also can’t decide if I want the table to function as a storage place as well (ie, have a drawer or a shelf or two below). Storage is always key in a small space, but I don’t want it to be too bulky as to hide the bench from view.
The House Beautiful article lead me to these seven tables, which are my current favorites. But it’s Friday, August 29th and by Saturday, August 30th – I could have a whole new crop of loves. I’m that unreliable.
So please, peruse below and weigh in on what you love, what you hate, and what you think would look best in my foyer. I’d like to have this decision made when I return from my little jaunt to Napa. Yes, I’m currently sitting in beautiful central California sipping wine in a vineyard with my girlfriends. Sometimes it’s nice to get away from the hammering, sanding and painting of my everyday life…
